Quality
The quality of the pictures you’ll get from a digital camera will
depend on the amount of MEGAPIXELS the camera has and how good the
camera’s LENS is. In general the more megapixels the better.
However, the more megapixels you use the less pictures you can store
on a memory card! Don’t forget, the lens is just as important as
the megapixels. We carry the Sony range which use Carl Zeiss lenses
(some of the best in the world) and Panasonic who use world renowned
Leica lenses. We also carry Olympus who dominate the digital camera
market with their well built waterproof cameras providing a 2 year
guarantee.
Memory
Instead of using film, with digital cameras your pictures are stored
on a memory card. Depending on the capacity of the memory card, each
card can store different amounts of pictures. The capacities of
memory cards are measured in megabytes (or MB). MEGABITES DON’T
HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MEGAPIXELS! To store lots of pictures you
need lots of megabytes on your memory card.
Zoom
There
are two types of zoom, OPTICAL ZOOM and DIGITAL ZOOM. Optical zoom
is much better than digital zoom because digital zoom reduces the
quality of the picture. The average optical zoom is about 3x. This
means that the lens will bring objects three times closer to you
from where they are on screen. You can get optical zoom up to 12x.
